Reditus promotes, in Oporto, training sessions for Certification of Professionals in Information Privacy

The courses, developed by the prestigious Association IAAP (International Association of Privacy Professionals), deal with issues related to national and European legislation and regulations. According to this international Association the CIPP/E (Certified Information Privacy Professionals) and CIPM (Certified Information Privacy Manager) are two of the essential courses for those performing DPO functions.

The 2-day courses, offered at Reditus Business School in partnership with IAPP, are recognized globally. These actions fall within the framework of the annual training plan of Reditus, which envisage the development of other training activities in Lisbon on a monthly basis until the end of the year (www.reditus.pt/pt-pt/eventos).

  • Venue: Hotel Dom Henrique, Rua Guedes de Azevedo, Nº179, 4049-009 Porto
  • Dates
    • CIPP/E - 25 and 26 of September – 9h-18h
    • CIPM - 25 and 26 of September – 9h-18h
  • Enrolment by email: formacao@reditus.pt

Reditus Business School has been proposing training actions in order to prepare organizations and their employees for the impacts of GDPR, covering three distinct areas: CIPP/E Certification, CIPM Certification and CIPT Certification.

  • CIPP/E Certification addresses national and european legislation and regulations, terminology, concepts and best practices, regarding the protection of personal data and of data flows between countries;
  • CIPM Certification is one of the main certifications especially directed to Operational Management professionals;
  • CIPT Certification is directed to IT professionals and aimed at the validation of their technological knowledge in privacy.

The Data Protection Officer (DPO) status demands a thorough knowledge of the new legislation as well as specific skills, in order to lead the overall implementation and management of processes intrinsic to the business, and which comprise the collection and processing of personal data under the new legislation. The CIPP/E and CIPM Certifications ensure candidates have the necessary skills to perform the DPO functions, in order to assist organizations in designing and implementing correct GDPR strategies.

THE IMPORTANCE OF TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION

The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) represents a huge transformation for all public and private national organizations, demanding the appointment of a Data Protection Officer (DPO) and the implementation of control tools and specific procedures aimed at managing and protecting the personal data of their clients and employees.

THE NEW REGULATION AND THE DPO’s ROLE

The new 2016/679 Regulation issued by the European Parliament and Council, reinforces the already conferred rights and the individuals’ control over their personal data, forcing companies to implement processes and procedures as well as to appoint and train/certify an employee as DPO. The DPO will be the individual responsible for implementing the technical and organizational measures, required for the protection of data privacy within the organization.

1. Summary of the Activity

During the first quarter of 2017 (1Q17) Reditus pursued the internal reorganization begun in the last quarter of 2016, following the strategic repositioning of the Group after the sale of the subsidiary ROFF, adjusting its spending structure to the new reality of the Group and creating the conditions for the development of integrated, innovative and higher added value offers, in order to follow the business plan based on the development of its core activities and the profitability of its business.

The following 1st Quarter 2017 (1Q17) results are compared with the restated values for the 1st Quarter 2016 (1Q16).

Operating Revenues reached 10,2 million Euros on 1Q17, or a 15.3% decrease from 1Q16.

In the period under review, there has been a Revenue contraction in relation to the same period last year, mainly in the BPO segment of the Client Services area, reflecting the conclusion of two large contracts that the Group has not yet been able to substitute for others of equivalent value, due to very aggressive and competitive market conditions.

Reditus’ Operating Income reaches 44,9 million euros in 2016

  • Operating Income of EUR 44,9 million (vs. EUR 58,4 million)
  • EBITDA of EUR 2,8 million (vs. EUR 6,9 million)
  • EBITDA margin 6.1% (vs. 11.8%)
  • Net income of EUR -2.901 thousand (vs. EUR +264 thousand)
  • International sales represent 39% of total

1. Summary of the Activity

FY 2016 was marked by a significant change in the Group, which occurred in the last quarter of the year.

In fact, on November 4th Reditus entered into an agreement with GFI Informatique and its affiliate GFI Portugal, for the sale of its subsidiary ROFF - Consultores Independentes, S.A., specialized in the segment of SAP applications.

This divestiture is part of the strategic repositioning of the Reditus Group, allowing it to focus on the core business and accelerate the internal restructuring process (operational and financial), as well as to create the conditions for the implementation of its Business Plan based on the broadening and growth of its BPO and ITO activities, both in the domestic and in the international markets.

The results for 2016, presented below, are compared with the restated values for the FY 2015.

Operating income amounted to 44,9 million euros, down 23.2% over last year, due to business contraction in the main African market and to the persistence of an adverse economic environment in the domestic market.

There have been postponements in investment decisions to be made by clients in the period under review, while being expected that these will resume in 2017 with a special focus on several projects in the international market.

EBITDA was 2,8 million euros, equivalent to an EBITDA margin of 6.1%, 5.7pp below the margin of 11.8% achieved last year.

It should be noted that the consolidated EBITDA of 2,8 million euros was negatively affected by approximately 0,9 million euros, relating to extraordinary, "one-off" capital loss situations in the year. Adjusted for these costs, it would have reached a value of 3,7 million euros, or an EBITDA margin of 8.1%.
